ZIPPO 2e REI

The 2nd Foreign Infantry Regiment (French: 2e Régiment Étranger d'Infanterie, 2e REI) is an infantry regiment of the French Foreign Legion. The regiment is one of two mechanized infantry regiments of the 6th Light Armoured Brigade.

The 1st Foreign Regiment (1er Régiment étranger, 1er RE) is the original and most senior founding regiments of the French Foreign. The regiment is also responsible for running special institutions of the Legion. These include the Legion Military Band, the Legion Museum and numerous other Legion initiatives. The 1er RE in its various command functions, is an elite command regiment. 1er Régiment Étranger, 1er RE. The oldest regiment and the headquarters of the French Foreign Legion. The 1st Foreign Regiment has been based at Quartier Viénot, Aubagne (southern France, close to Marseille) since it moved from Sidi Bel Abbès, Algeria, in 1962.
